The tuberose flower is one of the toughest, most reliable bloomers in zones 8-10. They are in the same family as Agave.
The foliage appears during the summer, and the sweet-smelling bloom begins to appear in July or August.
Dry soil during the winter is preferable, and cold freezes can hurt them so plant accordingly. The tuberose can be planted in pots, but be sure to bring the pots in when the temperature drops to 35 degrees.
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil in zones 8-10.
The plant will be 2-3 feet tall with multiple small blooms on each stalk. Once well-established, the tuberose may bloom more than once during a single season.
